pittman wash o/b

thursday group run.  ran with salty paul on the way out.  then picked up a new guy, chris, when salty turned.  chris is 2 weeks out from his first marathon, so we talked marathon tips.  overall pace was 8:05, but the part I ran with the group was 7:45/mi for 7.5 mi.  some progress there.

swim drills with skinny.

lots of stuff to think about - hand entry, elbow position, BREATHING correctly, kicking evenly, body roll.  Heart rate pretty low today.  Still relying on run & bike for cardio benefit.  Swim days are like recovery days, at my low skill level.  Got a little better at breathing to the side today, but still need a lot of work on that, especially when I start going harder & needing more air.

swim faster

started swimming in late december & today, for the first time, I noticed that I can swim a little faster.  getting more of a “side-to-side” motion with my torso and kicking more efficiently.  breathing is still a bit of a challenge, since I can’t seem to draw a whole breath from my armpit before that arm hits water again.  n00b.  Still, seeing the pace drop a bit & feeling more comfortable in the water is good.  Need to swim with Danny et al to get technique.
